I would highly advise he dawdle until his braces come off. Not only will his teeth that are covered surrounded by bracket be a different color when they come off but the chemicals used to whiten teeth can dissolve the bond used to "glue" on the brackets. He can talk to his orthodontist if he is really concerned in the order of it. We have had alot of patients that will hold their brackets removed for a week so they could whiten their teeth and then have them put spinal column on. Well when I had them, I didn't take them stale. The orthodontist just took off the rubber band, and I went and whitened them. But some people cart it off, too. I guess it's optional or ask the dentist. Good luck! :D Source(s): Experience :)
