Is this a sleeping disorder?

So I've had insomnia for a long time, since I was close to 14. I used to take a sleeping medication, like Ambien and it would simply put me to sleep half the time, other times it would keep me all-embracing awake freaking out and like hallucinating, so I stopped taking it. I found that melatonin helps, but I sometimes am groggy contained by the morning, and it might contribute to this weird symptom that I recently become aware of. Apparently, according to my partner, I'm known to get for a time.. violent if I'm woken up in the hours of darkness, and have violent stolen blankets, and at one point punched and kicked. I also will sometimes own entire conversations with people after anyone woken up, and then about 5 minutes subsequently when I really do wake up, I won't remember anything about it.

Lately, it's be getting worse I think because I wake up and it's almost approaching my brain is only half-way turned on. I can't concentrate, and it lasts around 10 minutes. It's kind of like self stuck in a childlike state but with some added confusion.

Any notion what's going on?
Answers:
Your symptoms sound like a sleep disorder. There are sleep clinics you can check into for an overnight session while they oral exam your sleep patterns and observe your behavior.

I tried melatonin too and I felt groggy. I found that I own to take it more than 8 hours before I step to bed so the pill has worn off by the time I stir up.
