I wouldn't read out it's hating your skin color. Many people use it for different reason. But really it's not even about hating your see, some people don't like anyone considered on race and like to hold on to people guessing. I personally I did it for going on for a month but stopped when I learned that hydroquinone could cause cancer I stopped.
