have had this problem for around 2 years presently. my big toenail has become discoloured, after goin to the docs twice and numerous nail sample they say there is no fungus. My toenail have lifted completely away from the nail bed and is clinging on by the cuticle and the root, and its individual the one nail that has a problem, i even share the scissors i use next to hubby and all our nails are fine apart from my one toenail. ive given up on the treatments they are gone down. any suggestions before i try and rip it out myself?

My suggestion is go and see the chiropodist or as they are call now podiatrist.
I had a similar problem around 3 years ago and the doctor told me it was a fungal infection and gave me a juice solution to paint on it every night. I did that for over a year with no alteration and eventually went to a podiatrist. I was told it be because of the fashion shoes I was wearing cause pressure making an overgrowth of skin between the nail and my toe.
After a few months of treatment (going every 6 weeks) it is fine and was not a fungal infection which proves that doctors don't know everything.
I believe you own toenail fungus regardless of what the doc said. A super great and super cheap way to cure such a fungus is to soak that toe in a mixture of clorox and hose down, twice a day. One part clorox to three parts river should do the trick.
